I apologize for creating and then never posting here. there has been a string of jobs that have had different start and end times, which has been wreaking havoc on my personal schedule, and updating has been lost in the shuffle.

the store planning has been running smoothly. a business plan is just now being solidified, and forays into speaking with other stores in the area have begun.

so, i thought a few more questions and a plea for your opinions would be warranted! These are some ideas and thoughts from the last collaboration session. as always, your ideas and expansions upon those listed are very welcome!

so we are off to a good start!
we're had a lot of responses from the communities i posted the initial survey in, so lets have some discussion here!

1. one thing i've been mulling over is keeping the store a "PG" environment until a certain time of day or until a time during the week. we are planning on staying open later on fridays and saturdays, so maybe after 9pm the store would be more relaxed on language? i know many gamers who might or might not like that. thoughts?

2. we've also been discussing having a viewing of a weekly TV show. Something geek related, like Heroes, or Battlestar Galactica, or maybe Lost every week, after closing, we would turn down the lights, turn on the TV and watch the show as its being aired. scifi/serial TV is always better when watched with other fans. during the summer we could watch a DVD set of a canceled show, like firefly.

and remember, this is an open community - post your thoughts, and respond to anyone's ideas. the best way this will work is if we all participate!

To all the video gamers out there....
First I want to say, if this post is not allowed in this community, please let me know and I'll remember this in the future.

I am planning on opening a Video game store in the Amherst area in the near future. What will be special about this store is I want it to be a place for people to feel comfortable in. somewhere that, while providing games and stuff related to games, gives people a place to hang out and be themselves.

As an avid gamer, I think this area needs more than just EB Games and the big box stores to provide video games to the valley. Why not a locally owned store? One that can listen to its customers, and make itself into a place valley residents and students would like to visit?

So I have a few questions. I want to know what people would like to see in this sort of place, what they would expect, and what they would NOT want to see. So if you can, answer the following questions to the best of your ability. If you aren't comfy responding here, you can email us at SecretLevelGames@gmail.com
